The Canal and River Trust paid us a visit, with a whole school assembly and a special early years themed event. They shared some fantastic ideas and guidance to keep our families safe.

Year 1 went on a school trip to the British Motor Museum. Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their time dressing up as bus drivers, riding on a 100-year-old bus and investigating the first ever car. Here are some pictures of the cars we observed and the costumes we dressed up in.

To enhance our STEAM learning this term our Year 1 class visited the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. The class had the chance to investigate lots of different motor vehicles and see how they have developed over time. They even got to sit in the vehicles and get dressed up. pic.twitter.com/RknBFOOynI

KS2 competed in their second House Competition of the academic year. The challenge involved orienteering, searching for puzzle pieces with the aid of a map of the school grounds. However, it wasn’t that easy. There were lots of challenges to earn their puzzle pieces to begin with

Home School Link Worker

As another new academic year starts, I wanted to send out a hello and a reminder of who I am and my role. My name is Hannah McKenzie-Blyth and I am the Home School Link Worker at Cherry Fields Primary School.

I have a diverse range of professional skills and knowledge to support children, young people and families.

The aim of my work is:

  • To enable children to access and benefit from the best educational opportunities by supporting parents, carers and families with their individual needs

  • Promote positive links between the home, school, local organisations and agencies so that families receive the best care and support that is available to them

I can offer support with:

HOME SCHOOL LINK:

Did you have a tough time at school and do teachers still scare you? Our childhood experiences often stick with us and inhibit how we interact with others in the present day.  If you have a problem and you are not sure how to talk to school about it or you would like to speak to someone in confidence, then they are willing to listen and can offer you support

FAMILY MATTERS:

I have information on organisations that can support families through difficult times such as bereavement, separation, unemployment and illness.

CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR:

No one has ever claimed to be the perfect parent.  It is a tough job and is not easy all of the time. If your child is presenting you with some difficult behaviours then please do not suffer in silence. Support is out there for you and my door is always open.

MONEY MATTERS:

I am able to obtain information on benefits, helpful local charities, accessible grants and organisations that can help families on a low income, alongside this Cherry Fields Primary School are holders of Food Bank Vouchers if you are in need of extra food supplies.

If you feel you and your family would benefit from support, please come and see me on the gates in the morning or afternoons. Alternatively, please feel free to pop into the school office and leave your contact details or approach a familiar adult at school who you feel comfortable to talk to. I am based at Cherry Fields Primary School on a Tuesday and Thursday and always contactable the remaining days of the week.
