GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

The Canal and River Trust paid us a visit, with a whole school assembly and a special early years themed event. They shared some fantastic ideas and guidance to keep our families safe.

Year 1 went on a school trip to the British Motor Museum. Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their time dressing up as bus drivers, riding on a 100-year-old bus and investigating the first ever car. Here are some pictures of the cars we observed and the costumes we dressed up in.

To enhance our STEAM learning this term our Year 1 class visited the British Motor Museum at Gaydon. The class had the chance to investigate lots of different motor vehicles and see how they have developed over time. They even got to sit in the vehicles and get dressed up. pic.twitter.com/RknBFOOynI

KS2 competed in their second House Competition of the academic year. The challenge involved orienteering, searching for puzzle pieces with the aid of a map of the school grounds. However, it wasn’t that easy. There were lots of challenges to earn their puzzle pieces to begin with

Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to Cherry Fields Primary School!BWCF SF 012

Our brand new, one form entry school opened in September 2020 in Banbury; located on the Belway housing developments of Hanwell View and Cherry Fields, off Southam Road.  We opened our doors to reception and nursery children for the first time in September 2020 and, as of September 2024, have classes up to Year 4. Each year the school will increase its age range, adding an additional year group until it is an all-through primary school in 2026.

We are proud of our new school and its amazing facilities, inside and outside the classroom, that will allow us to deliver our exciting and enriching curriculum. As part of the GLF Academy Trust, we are wholly committed to ensuring the highest standard of education and provision for our children.

Our aim is for our children is to dream, believe and achieve and our embedded STEAM curriculum has been specifically written and deliberately designed for children living in Oxfordshire.  We follow The National Curriculum and deliver it through a Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics lens. The STEAM curriculum is a vehicle to encourage children to aspire to work in the high technology industries within Oxfordshire and to develop a love of learning. We believe in offering a curriculum that ensures all children benefit and learn, whatever their individual starting point.

Wellbeing and nurture of children is at the heart of all school decisions. Our explicitly taught high expectations are modelled by staff and are underpinned by our school values. These values are: respect, kindness, curiosity, dedication and resilience. We have a strong ethos and culture around our school values which means that we reward and draw attention to the value rather than the outcome.   We strive to achieve excellence whilst internalising respect, kindness and determination therefore growing and developing well-rounded, polite, confident, articulate and empowered children – the next generation is off to a very good start!

Cherry Fields Primary is part of the GLF Schools Multi Academy Trust, alongside our cluster of schools: Longford Park Primary (opened in September 2017, graded outstanding September 2021), Aureus Primary School (opened in September 2018, graded outstanding October 2022), William Morris Primary School (joined GLF in 2015, graded outstanding in September 2018) and Hardwick Primary School (joined GLF in 2019). As part of this cluster of schools, we benefit from sharing outstanding resources and support.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website and that you will re-visit it regularly to keep up to date with our latest news.
