Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Cherry Fields Primary School!
Our brand new one form entry school will open in September 2020 in Banbury; located on the Belway housing developments of Hanwell View and Cherry Fields, off Southam Road. We open our doors to reception and nursery children for the first time in September and each year the school will increase its age range, adding an additional year group until it is an all through primary school in 2026.
I am delighted to be leading Cherry Fields Primary as it welcomes its very first pupils this September; it is a very special thing for any child, family or member of the school staff to be a part of the very beginning of the history of a new school.
We are proud of our new school and its amazing facilities, inside and outside the classroom, that will allow us to deliver our exciting and enriching curriculum. As a GLF Academy school, we are wholly committed to ensuring the highest standard of education and provision for our children.
Our strongest motivation is a passion for learning. Our aim is to ensure that when children leave us, they are empowered with a love of learning, confidence through developing a strong vocabulary and an insatiable zest for life and all the wonderful opportunities that they will one day experience and have access to. For us here at Cherry Fields, learning is a broad umbrella. Our curriculum is posited on the theories of knowledge acquisition and reducing cognitive load. Our staff team have been developing this curriculum in our sister schools over the last 2 years, meaning that we are on the front foot of embedded curriculum design and educational theory - please read all about our exciting STEAM curriculum in the curriculum section of our website.
We believe in offering a curriculum that ensures all children benefit and learn whatever their individual challenges. We have a strong ethos and culture around our 12 school values which means that we reward and draw attention to the value rather than the outcome. We strive to achieve excellence whilst internalising respect, kindness and determination therefore growing and developing well-rounded, polite, confident, articulate and empowered children – the next generation is off to a very good start!
Cherry Fields Primary will be part of the GLF Schools Multi Academy Trust, alongside Longford Park Primary (opened in September 2017), Hardwick Primary and William Morris Primary, and therefore will benefit from sharing outstanding resources and support.
Our aim is to work with the local community to ensure Cherry Fields is a place ‘where children grow, learn and flourish together’.
We do hope you will consider Cherry Fields for your children; we would love to hear from you, so please contact the office for more details.
