Cherry Fields Primary School admission arrangements for 2020/2021
Applications made directly to Cherry Fields before 15 January 2020 are now being managed by Oxfordshire County Council. Parents who have made an application will be contacted directly by Oxfordshire. Parents are still able to apply for a place for September 2020 and should do so directly to Oxfordshire, but their application will be treated as "late application".

Cherry Fields Primary School admission arrangements for 2021/2022
Applications for a place at the school will be managed by Oxfordshire Local Authority through their coordinated admissions process online. The deadline for receipt of applications is 15 January 2021 and you will be able to apply from 1st November 2020.

Published Admission Number (PAN)
Cherry Fields Primary School has an admission number of 30 for entry in Reception. The school will accordingly admit this number of pupils each year if there are sufficient applications. Where fewer applicants than the PAN are received, Cherry Fields Primary School will offer places at the school to all those who have applied.
When Cherry Fields Primary School is oversubscribed, in accordance with legal requirements, children who have an Education Health and Care Plan that names Cherry Fields Primary School will be admitted. In addition those children who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs that names Cherry Fields Primary School in Part 4 of that Statement will also be admitted
The oversubscription criteria for Cherry Fields Primary School are shown below in descending order of priority.
1. Children who are looked after by a local authority within the meaning of section 22 of the Children Act 1989 at the time of their application and previously looked after children. The term “previously looked after children” refers only to children who were looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order).
2. Disabled children who need to be admitted to a school on the grounds of physical accessibility. The definition of disability is that contained within the Equalities Act 2010.
a) Children living in the designated area of the school with a brother or sister on roll at the time of application who will still be attending the preferred school at the time of entry. If there are more applicants than places in category 3(a) priority will be given to those children who live closest to the school by the nearest designated public route as defined on Oxfordshire County Council’s Directorate for Children, Education & Families’ Geographic Information System.
b) Children living in the designated area of the school. If there are more applicants than places in category 3(b) priority will be given to those children who live closest to the school by the nearest designated public route as defined on the Directorate for Children, Education & Families’ Geographic Information System.
4. Children living outside the designated area who have a brother or sister on roll at the time of application who will still be attending the preferred school at the time of entry. If there are more applicants than places in this category priority will be given to children who live closest to the school by the nearest designated public route as defined on the Directorate for Children, Education & Families’ Geographic Information System.
5. Those children who live closest to the school by the nearest designated public route as defined on the Directorate for Children, Education & Families’ Geographic Information System.
Time of Entry
The admission rules give a high priority to those with a brother or sister attending the relevant school at the applicant’s “time of entry”. This means that in the normal admissions round there will be no sibling connection for admission purposes for those applicants for Reception who have a brother or sister in Year 6.
If two or more applicants tie for the final place under the distance criterion, the Local Authority will use random allocation to determine who will be offered a place.
All applications received by the Local Authority after the deadline will be considered to be late applications. Late applications will be considered after those received on time. If, following consideration of all applicants the school is oversubscribed, parents may request that their child is placed on the school’s waiting list.
Deferred entry for infants
Parents offered a place in reception for their child have a right to defer the date their child is admitted, or to take the place up part-time, until the child reaches compulsory school age. Places cannot be deferred beyond the beginning of the final term of the school year for which the offer was made.
Children reach compulsory school age on the prescribed day following their 5th birthday (or on their fifth birthday if it falls on a prescribed day). The prescribed days are 31 August, 31 December and 31 March.]
Admission of children outside their normal age group
There is no legal barrier to children being admitted outside their normal year group. If a request for early or late admission is received it is for Cherry Fields Primary School to make the decision as to which year group the child will be admitted and a decision of this kind has to be made based on the circumstances of the individual case and in the best interests of the child concerned, taking into account the views of the headteacher and any supporting evidence provided by the parent.
Where, through the agreed procedure, a pupil is transferring school outside the normal year they will be treated equally to other children in the transfer group.
Siblings/brother or sister
For admissions purposes, a brother or sister is defined as one of the following: A brother or sister (both parents the same) living at the same home address; A half- brother or half-sister (one parent the same) living at the same home address; A step-brother or step-sister (sharing a parent who is married or in a civil partnership) living at the same home address; An adopted child who, by reason of the adoption, now shares one or more parents with a child living at the same home address.
Cherry Fields Primary School will operate a waiting list for each year group. Where in any year the school receives more applications for places than there are places available, a waiting list will operate until the end of the academic year. This will be maintained by the school and it will be open to any parent to ask for his or her child’s name to be placed on the waiting list, following an unsuccessful application.
Children’s position on the waiting list will be determined solely in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. Where places become vacant they will be allocated to children on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. The waiting list will be reordered in accordance with the oversubscription criteria whenever anyone is added to or leaves the waiting list.
 A Statement of Special Educational Need is a statement made by the local authority under Section 324 of the Education Act 1996 specifying the special educational provision required for that child. An Education, Health and Care plan is a plan made by the local authority under Section 37 of the Children and Families Act 2014 specifying the special education provision required for that child. This is therefore not an oversubscription criterion.
 A 'looked after child' is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in Section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989) at the time of making an application
 This group includes children who were adopted under the Adoption Act 1976 (see section 12 adoption orders) and children who were adopted under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (see section 46 adoption orders).
 Under the provisions of s.14 of the Children and Families Act 2014, which amend section 8 of the
Children Act 1989, residence orders have now been replaced by child arrangements orders.
 Section 14A of the Children Act 1989 defines a ‘special guardianship order’ as an order appointing one or more individuals to be a child’s special guardian (or special guardians).
